The Company

Moonracer Resources LLC pursues overlooked, low-risk conventional and quasi-conventional exploration and development opportunities in the Williston Basin.

We apply rigorous subsurface analysis and disciplined engineering to unlock value in plays that have been passed over by larger operators, leveraging modern technology and data-driven techniques to extract untapped value from mature areas often overlooked by conventional approaches.

Moonracer currently holds over 1,500 net acres in the Williston Basin of North Dakota and Montana.

Management

Co-Founder

Mike Madison

Mike is a petroleum geologist with more than 16 years of experience, the majority of it in the Williston Basin. He worked operations and development at Kodiak Oil & Gas from 2011 to 2014, then exploration, development, and business development at Whiting Petroleum through 2019, covering North Dakota and Montana and building a basin-wide subsurface framework grounded in thousands of penetrations through the full Williston section. His conventional work has centered on the Madison and Red River, with experience in carbonate petrophysics, structural and stratigraphic mapping, and the trap and seal controls that govern conventional accumulations in the basin. Since founding Green Mountain Exploration in 2022 he has consulted on exploration, development, and CCUS projects across North America, including prospect generation in the Williston.
